Overall my experience is positive, nothing too crazy stands out. I do plan on being a return patient of Dr. Sanchez for as long as I am able to; rapport is important to me.
From my handful of visits with her, I felt she was somewhat impersonal and even a bit pushy regarding her own agenda. There have also been times when I've had to remind her of my previous visits and test results despite the fact that she and the nurse had my office visits and medical history readily available (they carry iPads for the purpose of convenience which is great, I just wish they took better advantage of it). I've also learned to communicate in a "matter-of-fact" way when discussing my health with her; she has the tendency to answer her own questions (directed to me) and it is discouraging.
There was one occasion after an appointment where I felt doubtful that I'd receive the results and/or care I was looking for because I was unable to efficiently communicate my wants and needs. Perhaps Dr. Sanchez's bedside manner could be improved. No patient wants to feel rushed or waved off even though I don't believe she intends to do this.
Dr. Sanchez has proven to be detail-oriented and is more than willing to conduct biopsies or other tests on the spot if any inkling of doubt exists between her and/or the patient. However, as I mentioned above regarding my own experience, the patient must be confident in what it is they are looking to resolve or understand from their appointment and it must be clearly communicated to her. Dr. Sanchez takes a conservative approach and does not try to "up-sell" you on any unnecessary procedures or skin care products. I can't express how much I appreciate this as so many dermatologists I've met with in the past are prone to this behavior.
To conclude, nobody is perfect and I don't think it's worth the effort and frustration to "shop" around for doctors. I try to weigh the pros and cons in any type of relationship. Regarding Dr. Sanchez, I am confident that she is knowledgeable and provides adequate care despite our personality differences. A manageable pet peeve such as this is unlikely to control my overall opinion. …read more
