About Dr. Raj Chovatiya
Raj Chovatiya, MD, PhD, MSCI, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University Chicago Medical School and Founder and Director of the Center for Medical Dermatology + Immunology Research in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to this, he served as Assistant Professor, Director at the Center for Eczema and Itch and Medical Director in the Clinical Trials Unit at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His clinical and research focus includes the intersection of cutaneous immunology and inflammatory diseases. He received his MD and PhD in Immunology from Yale in 2016 and went on to complete an Internal Medicine Internship at Yale New Haven Hospital in 2017. He then completed his residency, where he also served as Chief Resident, postdoctoral research fellowship, and received a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) at Northwestern University.
Dr. Chovatiya has a particular interest in optimizing patient-centered care, understanding chronic disease burden, especially in understudied inflammatory diseases, exploring health and social disparities, and improving care across diverse skin types. He has published numerous abstracts and manuscripts and has been nationally and internationally recognized for his contributions as a clinician, educator, researcher and leader.

Doctor was fine. Office is very disorganized. Post visit they were supposed to call in a prescription. They didn’t and multiple calls to the office were not returned until they reached out a week later at which point I’d had a more responsive doctor order it for me. Wouldn’t recommend for that reason.

The doctor was friendly, I didn't feel rushed, and I felt like he listened to all of my concerns. My only issue is that the prescription that was sent to the pharmacy by his assistant was incorrect. Overall, it was a good first experience with a dermatologist, I would go back. Just next time I will make sure that they send the correct prescription if one is required.

Scheduling the appointment was quick and easy—just a bit of paperwork to get started. I was seen right away, and the entire staff was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and took the time to listen to all of my concerns. I felt genuinely cared for. Highly recommend!

My experience with Dr. Raj Chovatiya and his assistant was amazing! I had been suffering with intense symptoms for 6 months and had been to other dermatologists, my primary care doctor, and urgent care several times. The assistant took a lot of time listening to my history and empathizing with my suffering and frustration. He wrote a detailed timeline of my condition and read it back to me to be sure it was correct. He was relaxed and attentive. I found Dr. Chovatiya to be thorough, patient, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable. My condition was uncommon, but he nailed the diagnosis precisely. In addition he could talk about the intricacies of the condition and thoroughly answered all my questions. He discussed options and we quickly agreed on an action plan. He provided me all the reassurance I needed. They were a great team and spent a full hour with me. I feel very fortunate and couldn’t be more satisfied.

Clean office, warm and friendly staff. Dr Raj was fantastic, a great listener and communicator. My only gripe is it took well over an hour past my original appointment time to see the doctor. The staff and Dr Raj were apologetic for the long wait but never communicated that they were behind when I first arrived. Communication goes a long way, I get that late patients or an appointment(s) running longer than expected can impact schedules and delays uncontrollably but when you are knowingly behind, it is best to communicate this to every patient that checks in so they can expect delays and not sit and wonder for 60 minutes when they may get in to see the doctor.

He was so incredibly warm and kind! Every time he provided a solution for a skin concern, he followed with “okay, what else?” This stuck out to me because I’ve been rushed through many appointments and not given the opportunity to cover all of my bases. He also introduced me to treatment options that I’ve never heard of before and explained in depth how effective they are. Additionally, the nurses and receptionist were very kind and attentive. Highly, highly recommend this practice and this doctor!
