Insurance Coverage for TMS: TMS treatment is typically covered by insurance if the following medical criteria is met: 1) patient is 18 years or older, 2) patient has tried at least two medications within two different classes of antidepressants and 3) patient has undergone a sufficient trial of psychotherapy. Please note, medical criteria may vary depending on your insurance provider. Exclusionary Criteria for TMS: Some diagnoses are considered exclusionary and will not be covered by insurance, including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. In addition, patients with a history of seizures, implanted medical devices, and/or magnetic/metal plates near their head, neck or shoulders may require medical clearance before moving forward with treatment.
