Getting to know Rita Behr
Rita Behr, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner building on a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from ten years of nursing in critical care and emergency medicine. Her highly developed skills in patient care, including the ability to analyze and implement sound treatment plans along with patient education and family counseling, enable her to focus on therapeutic relationships and the lifestyles of her patients at I Care Psych. She values a holistic, functional approach to life that can be achieved through therapeutic interventions, lifestyle modifications, and medication management. Her goal is to provide patients with precision treatment in an outpatient setting to help foster a healthy and productive way of life.
Rita first became a Registered Nurse in 2016 after earning her bachelor's degree in Nursing from Ohio University. Upon graduation, she provided high-caliber care in trauma units across diverse settings throughout the country. This solid foundation in healthcare served as a catalyst for her exploration of psychiatric medicine and the direct correlation between critical illness and mental health. Committed to continuing education, Rita earned her master's degree in Nursing from Walden University in 2023, specializing as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, and became Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Her interest in holistic psychiatric treatment is guided by research from influential leaders in the field such as Dr. Stephen Stahl, Andrew Huberman, Loretta Breuning, and Dr. Peter Attia.
Outside of work, Rita is physically active in the community, enjoying fishing, paddling, hiking, and camping-the outdoors is her therapy! She also fosters animals through a local shelter and enjoys practicing yoga and traveling while learning about new cultures and languages.
