Getting to know Rita Perez

My name is Rita Perez; I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) currently serving patients in Nevada via telehealth. I work with patients ages 12 and up, and my focus is on anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, ADHD, and borderline personality disorder. My approach is comprehensive, focusing on each individual as a whole person: mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially. My approach As a psychiatric provider, I aim to help individuals work through the complexities of their emotions and life’s challenges. My approach is comprehensive, focusing on each individual as a whole person: mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially. Together, we develop a personalized treatment plan while keeping your lifestyle and goals in mind. Treatment can include prescribed and holistic medication, aspects of dialectical behavioral therapy and somatic therapy, and lifestyle modifications. My focus I work with patients ages 12 and up, and my focus is on anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, ADHD, and borderline personality disorder. I am comfortable and experienced working with multiple psychiatric diagnoses and co-morbid medical conditions. My communication style I believe in open and honest communication with my patients. My tone/environment is professional but friendly. I treat my patients with the same compassion and care I show my loved ones. I aim to contextualize their experiences and feelings with my knowledge of psychology to help them better understand what they are going through and why a particular medication or type of therapy may benefit their lives. My journey to mental healthcare Psychiatry feels like a calling to me, as cheesy as that may sound. For most of my life, I struggled with depression and anxiety. The mental healthcare I received for many years was disappointing and discouraging. I became a psychiatric nurse practitioner to give empathy and compassion to those individuals who feel hopeless and alone.
