“I am so grateful we found Dr. Scholl for my son. He had been struggling with treatment-resistant depression for quite some time, and as a mother, it was incredibly difficult to watch him go through it while feeling like we had run out of options. From our very first appointment, Dr. Scholl was compassionate, patient, and genuinely listened to our concerns. He took the time to explain the different treatment options and made sure my son felt comfortable and involved in his care. I especially appreciated how knowledgeable he was about treatment-resistant depression and TMS, and how he never made us feel rushed or pressured. Dr. Scholl gave us hope during a very difficult time. He was reassuring, professional, and made me feel that my son was truly in good hands. I would highly recommend Dr. Scholl to any parent looking for a psychiatrist who listens, cares, and takes the time to understand the whole person.”

Getting to know Dr. Robert Scholl

As a Board-Certified Adult Psychiatrist, I provide comprehensive care for adults experiencing depression, treatment-resistant depression (TRD), anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions. I have particular clinical experience working with complex psychiatric presentations, including suicide risk assessment and patients who have experienced limited improvement with traditional treatment approaches. I believe there is no single treatment that is right for everyone. Depending on your needs and treatment goals, we may consider medication management, psychotherapy, or evidence-based treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). I have experience providing TMS for treatment-resistant depression and am committed to carefully evaluating whether this treatment may be appropriate for you. My goal is to create a comfortable, respectful, and collaborative environment where you can speak openly about what you are experiencing without judgment. Together, we will work to understand your symptoms, review your treatment options, and develop a plan designed around your individual goals. If you have been struggling with depression, treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, or another mental health concern, I encourage you to take the first step toward getting the support you deserve. I look forward to meeting with you and working together toward meaningful improvement in your mental health and overall well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe the best psychiatric care begins with listening, understanding, and building a trusting relationship. During your first visit, I will take time to learn about your current concerns, symptoms, treatment history, medications, and personal goals. I encourage patients to be open and honest so we can work together to determine the most appropriate path forward. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health treatment. Depending on your needs, treatment may include medication management, psychotherapy, or evidence-based treatments such as TMS for treatment-resistant depression. You can expect a judgment-free environment where your concerns are taken seriously and your questions are welcomed. We will discuss your treatment options together and develop a plan that is appropriate for your symptoms, goals, and preferences. My goal is for you to leave each visit feeling heard, understood, and confident about the next steps in your care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a thorough evaluation to understand what you are experiencing, how your symptoms are affecting your daily life, your treatment history, and your goals for care. I take time to review relevant medical and psychiatric history, current medications, and any previous treatment response before making recommendations. During appointments, we will discuss your symptoms and progress, identify what is working and what may need to be adjusted, and make treatment decisions together. When appropriate, I provide medication management and incorporate psychotherapy and supportive, evidence-based therapeutic techniques into care. For patients experiencing depression that has not adequately responded to traditional treatments, I also evaluate whether interventional options such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Spravato® (esketamine), or IM ketamine may be appropriate. Follow-up visits are focused on monitoring progress, assessing treatment response and side effects, addressing new or ongoing concerns, and adjusting the treatment plan when needed. My goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care while ensuring that patients understand their options and remain actively involved in their treatment.

More information on payments and coverage

I accept most major health insurance plans, making psychiatric care accessible to patients throughout Broward County and surrounding South Florida communities. Insurance coverage and benefits can vary depending on your individual plan, so I recommend confirming your specific benefits and any applicable copays, deductibles, or coinsurance with your insurance provider. Our office will work with your insurance information to help verify benefits and determine coverage for eligible services. We will also review any expected out-of-pocket costs with you whenever possible so there are no surprises. We accept insurance for eligible psychiatric services, including psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Coverage for specialized treatments such as TMS, Spravato® (esketamine), or other interventional services may depend on your individual insurance plan and medical-necessity requirements. If you have questions about your insurance or coverage before your appointment, our office is happy to assist you in understanding the process.
