About Dr. Rockford Yapp

Dr. Rockford G. Yapp is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has performed over 20,000 endoscopic procedures in his career. His training includes medical school at University of Nebraska Medical Center, with training at Cornell University, Cook County Hospital, Shiprock, New Mexico and Narobi, Kenya. He completed his residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, then went to Yale University for his G.I. and Hepatology Fellowship. Dr. Yapp earned his Masters in Public Health (M.P.H.) in medical research and worked as an attending at Yale. Dr. Yapp has published over 30 medical articles and abstracts, including a 2009 publication in the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Yapp has over 200 lectures and presentations dealing with digestive disorders. Dr. Yapp is one of the few physicians in DuPage County with advanced training in ERCP, and has been on advisory committees to help develop some of the advanced ERCP equipment commonly used today.
Dr. Yapp was one of the first physicians in Illinois to perform the newly approved ablation technique to remove pre cancerous changes in the esophagus. Dr. Yapp has served as principle investigator in numerous regional and national studies dealing with digestive diseases and has participated in several National Institute of Health (NIH) Consensus Conferences. He is a Clinical Associate at Northwestern University Division of Hepatology and is one of the first Gastroenterologists in Illinois to be honored by the American Gastroenterological Association as a AGA Fellow. He has also been honored by the American Liver Foundation, the Illinois State Medical Association and the American Medical Association for his services. Because of his leadership in the medical community, Dr. Yapp has close working relationships with all the major Universities in the the Chicago area. Dr. Yapp has numerous academic and leadership accomplishments.

I was very disappointed after my doctors visit. I waited a long time past my appointment time. Atleast 45 minutes and then the doctor only spent a few minutes with me. The doctor was very friendly, but he didn't give me a chance to ask questions and I felt rushed. He wants me to have a diagnostic proedure done and didn't give me a chance to ask about other options until we were in the hallway.

Dr. Yapp was wonderful! He is caring and compassionate and really took his time with us. Our son is disabled and finding good doctors isn't always easy. Dr. Yapp was fantastic!
