“Dr. Bowman is very nice, prepared and knows his field of medicine better than most doctors I have met that specialize in orthopedic surgery of the upper extremities. I have met a lot of doctors in my 42 year career as a personal injury and workers' compensation attorney, representing injured workers and victims of negligence. Dr. Bowman is the best there is in his field.”

About Dr. Ron Bowman

Ron Bowman MD is a native Oregonian, raised on a family wheat farm in Northeastern Oregon, familiar with the demands and stresses of workers. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Oregon Health & Science University and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency in 1991. He returned to Pendleton, Oregon, practicing general orthopedics - arthroscopic surgery, total joint replacements, trauma, and hand, foot, and ankle surgery. He was certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons in 1993 and later received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine, active through 2023. Dr. Bowman moved to Portland in 2003, focusing on treating injured workers. He serves as Chairman of the OR Workers Compensation Medical Advisory Committee, first elected in 2004. This committee advises Oregon State administration on treatments allowed in the Workers Compensation system. Over 80% of his practice involves treating injured workers with shoulder pain or instability from rotator cuff and labral tears, knee pain or instability from meniscal and cartilage injuries, and ligament damage. His treatments include the latest biologics. He emphasizes accurate diagnoses, precise surgery, and guiding injured workers through often prolonged postoperative rehabilitation with progressive therapy. He views provider and patient as a team aiming to return the worker to their job. Dr. Bowman's clinics near Washington Square and in Salem include Physical Therapy. Most surgeries are performed at Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center in Tualatin, with some at Providence Willamette Falls Hospital and Legacy Meridian Park Hospital. In his free time, Dr. Bowman is an avid cyclist and has participated in several Cycle Oregon events.
