Getting to know Rona Huey
My name is Rona Huey and I am dually certified as a Family (Primary Care) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I live in Indianola, MS. I work with patients of all ages in the office and via telehealth. I mainly focus on medication management in the areas of mental health, treating all diagnoses including ADHD, bipolar disorders, Schizophrenia, and eating disorders and many others. My main focus is to help those that God has placed in my care to feel better holistically.
My approach
My approach to providing mental healthcare is to provide medication at the lowest effective dose in order to provide relief from symptoms, maintain or enhance daily daily functioning and improve quality of life. I also recommend or suggest relaxations and/or mediation activities to go along with psychopharmacological therapy.
My focus
As a psychiatric mental health practitioner, I focus on helping patients with a wide variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, insomnia and schizophrenia. I am comfortable treating many of the commons mental health disorders that we typically see from day to day.
My communication style
I consider myself to be an excellent listener. I engage with my patients to get them to feel as comfortable as possible in hopes that they will be able to completely open up with me. I do not judge my patients and I am very transparent with them. I feel that transparency fosters confidence and builds trust.
My journey to mental healthcare
I truly feel that my career in health care was most definitely a calling on my life since I was seven years old. I love people and I love to see people in a spirit of wholeness and mental wellness. I realized early in life that the mind played a major role in the wholeness and mental wellness of an individual. Therefore, I strive to do all that I can to help others through the strength and knowledge that God provides.
