Getting to know Dr. Rubin Khoddam

***NOTE: Dr. Khoddam and his associates at COPE Psychological Center are out-of-network providers with insurance (except ComPsych and Lyra) and fees vary by provider.*** I am a clinical psychologist and owner of COPE Psychological Center, an evidence-based mental health treatment center that personalizes treatment to your needs. I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California and hold a bachelor's degree from the University of California. My work focuses specifically on the treatment of addiction, trauma, and mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression. My goal in therapy is to help you truly understand the parts of your life most impacting you in order to gain the tools, insights, and skills necessary to live the life you want. I hope to help you write new scripts for your life, engage in behaviors that are more effective, and ultimately have new emotional experiences that will provide the pathway to the life you want. I utilize evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as specialized trauma treatments like Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I provide individual, couples, and group therapy focused on these issues as well as other concerns, such as life transitions and work stress management. Throughout my work, I use evidence-based treatments and have been trained extensively in the approaches mentioned above. I strive to come from a place of compassion and empathy because, as humans, we all have patterns, messages, and lessons that constantly show up in our lives. These patterns often repeat with a similar theme. The more conscious and mindful we become of these patterns, the more freedom we can have from them.

  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay

More information on payments and coverage

We are in-network with ComPsych and Lyra and out-of-network and private pay with other insurances. Our fee varies by provider. I charge $350 for a 50 minute session and I have multiple supervised providers working with me: Dr. Giselle Gomez and Dr. Ana Hauser who charge $250/session. I also have two excellent Psychology Externs (Jennifer Blank and Kyla-Rose Walden) who charges $125/session but are able to side as low as $40 pending financial need and availability within the clinic. We provide Superbills to help patients with reimbursement from their insurance. Most PPO insurances reimburse 40-80% of the fee, however, this varies by insurance, and we encourage individuals to confirm with their providers. Please check with your insurance company to inquire into possible out-of-network benefits and rates for reimbursement. COPE providers can provide a monthly statement documenting services received that can be used for possible reimbursement from your insurance company and/or healthcare spending accounts. Some questions that may be helpful to ask your insurance company: Do I have mental health benefits? Do I have out-of-network benefits? If so, what are the benefits? How would I obtain reimbursement for an out-of-network provider? How many sessions will be covered per calendar year? What is my deductible and has it been met?
