Getting to know Dr. Sadaf Sultana Ijaz

Dr. Sadaf Ijaz is a board-certified psychiatrist providing telehealth psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults across Virginia and Pennsylvania, with evening and weekend appointments available. She treats anxiety, depression, bipolar and mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, and burnout, with a special focus on women's mental health, including PMDD, postpartum depression, and perimenopausal mood changes. Her approach is evidence-based and collaborative, combining thoughtful medication management with CBT and supportive therapy — patients always understand the reasoning behind their treatment plan. Care is also available in Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi. Dr. Ijaz accepts most major insurance plans, and new patients are welcome.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New patients can expect an unhurried first visit where we look at the full picture — not just symptoms, but your history, stressors, and what you want treatment to change. I explain every recommendation and the reasoning behind it, so you're never left guessing; medication is one tool, never the whole plan. Between the thorough first evaluation and close follow-up, my goal is for you to feel steady, informed, and genuinely heard. Evening and weekend telehealth appointments make it easier to fit care into a busy life."

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before your first appointment, I'll send you intake forms and a secure link to join your video visit — completing the forms ahead of time lets us use our session fully. The first visit is a comprehensive evaluation: we'll review your current symptoms, personal and medical history, and goals, and by the end we'll have outlined a diagnosis and a treatment plan together. Follow-up visits track your progress and response to medication, but they go beyond symptom checks — I incorporate CBT and supportive therapy, helping you recognize unhelpful thought patterns and build coping skills. You'll always understand the reasoning behind each step of your care.
