Getting to know Dr. Sally Daganzo

Dr Daganzo's practice is 100% out of network. Payment is required to hold an appointment. New patient consultations through ZocDoc are $350 and do not constitute a physician patient relationship. It is a meet and greet in depth informational visit. Dr. Daganzo is a specialist in internal medicine, psychiatry, functional medicine and medically unexplained symptoms. She established her practice to fill a void at the intersection of medical and psychiatric healthcare—a rare but necessary approach to treating conditions many physicians are ill-equipped to manage. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Daganzo completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center and a fellowship in Primary Care Psychiatry at the University of California, Irvine. Additionally, she completed the rigorous and prestigious Institute of Functional Medicine Certification. She has a unique background in the physical sciences, including teaching undergraduates at UC Berkeley and earning an advanced degree in physics. Dr. Daganzo combines intellect, logic, and curiosity with deep compassion and dedication to medicine and lifelong learning. Through ongoing education, she has developed expertise in eating disorders and now teaches peers on proper diagnosis and treatment. Her commitment improves patient care both within her practice and across the medical community.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with patients who often feel like they’ve fallen through the cracks—those dealing with eating disorders, unexplained symptoms, or chronic conditions at the intersection of physical and mental health. Many of my patients come to me after seeing multiple specialists without clear answers. I take a holistic and deeply personalized approach. Expect longer appointment times, direct communication, and a physician who listens carefully and thinks outside the box. I'm not here to rush you through a checklist—I’m here to connect the dots, advocate for your care, and help you restore your health with science-backed strategies and compassion. I collaborate closely with other members of your care team and use both conventional and cutting-edge treatments, including psychopharmacology, ketamine-assisted therapy, and functional medicine approaches. My goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and supported as we work together toward your unique health goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is deeply collaborative, comprehensive, and rooted in curiosity. Most patients I work with have complex concerns—whether that’s a primary mental health condition, eating disorder, chronic illness, or symptoms no one else has been able to explain. Because of this, I take time to understand the full picture. After the brief consultation, should we decide to move forward, our first session is 90-120 minutes, which allows us to go well beyond surface-level symptoms. Together, we will review your history, labs, prior diagnoses, psychiatric background, and lived experience. We’ll discuss both physical and emotional aspects of your health, and I’ll ask questions to help uncover overlooked connections. I may order additional labs or testing, and we’ll map out both short- and long-term treatment goals together and put together a personalized precision plan. I integrate therapeutic conversation and coaching into my care—especially when exploring trauma-informed care, disordered eating, or stress-related illness. I’m also trained in psychiatry and psychopharmacology and offer medication management when appropriate, often in collaboration with your therapist or dietitian. Follow-up visits are typically 25–55 minutes and include check-ins on progress, labs, medications, and a continual re-evaluation of what’s working and what’s not. My role is part medical detective, part guide—helping you move from confusion to clarity, and ultimately toward feeling better in your body and mind.
