About Dr. Sanam Yaghoubian

Dr. Sanam Yaghoubian is board certified in internal medicine, adult cardiovascular diseases, advanced echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and is a registered physician in vascular interpretation. She has a special interest in preventive cardiology and women’s heart disease, and she is up to date with all the available cardiac imaging modalities and routinely performs and interprets transesophageal echocardiograms in select patients. Prior to joining Optum, Dr. Yaghoubian worked at a Mount Sinai affiliate hospital treating underserved patients with a significant burden of heart disease. She has ample experience in caring for adults with or at risk for coronary artery disease, elevated cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart valve disorders, arrhythmias, adult congenital heart disease and heart failure. Dr. Yaghoubian graduated Summa Cum Laude from Queens College. She completed her medical education at New York University School of Medicine where she stayed for her internal medicine residency. There she worked with and conducted clinical research with world famous Dr. Silvia Priori who is a leading scientist in the field of acquired cardiac arrhythmias. Dr. Yaghoubian completed her fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s-Roosevelt. As a second year fellow, she was appointed to arrange grand round lectures for the department. She developed an appreciation for the field of prevention. With the advent of cardiac CT, cardiac imaging has become an integral part of guiding patients to pursue lifestyle modifications. Dr. Yaghoubian lives in Great Neck with her husband and three children. She enjoys spinning and playing basketball and badminton in her free time. She loves to cook healthy food as well as authentic Persian food.
