About Dr. Sara Abu-Ghanem
Sara Abu-Ghanem MD MMedSc is an otolaryngologist (ENT) with expertise in voice, airway, and swallowing disorders. She obtained Bachelor of Science, Master of Medicine in Microbiology and Immunology, and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. She received her residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center affiliated with Tel Aviv University Sackler Medical School, Israel. She completed two years of clinical fellowship in Laryngology and Bronchoesophagology at Stanford University School of Medicine (California, USA) and New York University School of Medicine (New York, USA). Dr. Abu-Ghanem has recently joined Downstate Medical Center as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology. She is also a faculty member in the Department of Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center. Dr. Abu-Ghanem has published numerous scientific articles and is active in research and medical education.

The doctor was distracted about the schedule. She didn’t put protection on me when she attempted to treat me but protected herself. She didn’t care or seem to want to be bothered. I’ve tried calling the office to no avail. Ridiculous. 2 out of 10. Don’t recommend. My issue was not resolved. No treatment plan no prescription or advice Nothing. Just a referral to see another doctor in the office in 2 weeks. I’m expected to stay in this condition with 0 aid for 2 weeks Waste of time and money and insurance. Very disappointed. The staff in the office was awesome.

Dr. Sara Abu-Ghanem was such a pleasure to see. She is empathic, patient, and has an excellent bedside manner. The office was spotless and the staff was well-organized, helpful, and kind throughout my visit. I recommend this office to anyone looking for an ENT who takes the time to address each of your symptoms and to educate you on the next steps in a timely and compassionate manner.

It was my first time at Maimonides medical center and my experience with Dr. Sara Abu-Ghanem was the most human I’ve been treated as a patient in a long time. I’ve been in and out of doctors offices in the past 6 weeks due to an unexpected emergency surgery and have had a number of complications in the healing process. Dr. Abu-Ghanem made me feel heard and took into account every detail and symptom I described. I never felt like I was being dismissed or gaslit. She not only treated me for the issue I came for but referred me to two other docs for other issues I’m dealing with. Everyone at the office was so kind as well. I’m glad ZocDoc introduced me to this center. The only thing is that I waited close to an hour so take that into consideration when clearing your calendar for the appointment.
