Getting to know Sara Willey
My name is Sara Willey. I am a board-certified nurse practitioner who specializes in psychiatry and family practice. I have been practicing since 2015 and enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds. When I treat patients, I focus on them as a person and not as a disease or symptom.
My approach
My goal is to treat each patient holistically and as an individual. I work to understand each person's background and how that impacts them today, while at the same time finding the right treatment protocol that will address their concerns. In my practice, the patient guides their treatment while I provide the most accurate and up to date medical and mental health information.
My focus
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages. I am comfortable treating everything from anxiety and depression to more severe mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
My communication style
When you work with me, you can expect to be heard. I do my best to understand both what brought you in to see me in the first place and what your goals are with seeking treatment. I will never force my opinion on you, but I will offer you the best guidance I can to ensure that you reach your goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
Hurricane Katrina came just two months after I moved to New Orleans and overnight I was homeless and jobless. The compassion shown to me by others during this difficult time made me realize that I wanted to have a career where I could give back to my community. Becoming a Nurse Practitioner felt like the best way for me to achieve that goal. I have a BSN from George Mason University, a Master's of Science in Nursing from Husson University, and a post graduate certificate also from Husson University. I love running, traveling, reading and learning new things.

Patients in my practice are in charge of setting their goals for treatment. I offer them direction, realistic expectations, discuss areas of concern that they might not have thought
