“I had a procedure done for a pretty gnarly ingrown toenail, and the entire experience was excellent. The office staff was friendly, the intake process was easy, and I was seen almost immediately.
The doctor was personable, down to earth, and straightforward. He explained my options and performed the procedure right away. He removed the ingrown portions of the nail and resected the surrounding skin. To prevent the nail from growing back into the skin, he also performed a partial nail avulsion with matrixectomy, removing the sides of the nail and cauterizing the root to help prevent regrowth. The entire procedure took about 10 minutes.
I have dealt with this problem for most of my life, and I am very happy to finally have some relief. I only wish I had done it sooner.”

About Dr. Scott Shrem
Dr. Scott Shrem was raised in Monmouth County, NJ and received his undergraduate degree from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Dr. Shrem furthered his education at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Upon graduating at the top of his class from Temple, Dr. Shrem completed his training at St. Barnabas Medical Center. During his training, he completed over 1200 surgical procedures with multiple orthopedic, vascular, plastic and foot and ankle surgeons. Dr. Shrem graduated St. Barnabas Medical Center as Chief Resident in 2010 and has since been in private practice. He continues to attend educational seminars about the latest techniques in podiatric medicine and surgery.
Dr. Shrem is board certified in The American Board of Podiatric Medicine and is dual board qualified in Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as Rearfoot Reconstructive Surgery. He is an active staff member at Bayshore Community Hospital, St. Barnabas Medical Center, Middletown Surgical Center and at the Wound Care Center at Bayshore Hospital. Dr. Shrem is certified in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and has extensive knowledge in the latest wound care treatments. He gladly serves the communities of Hazlet, Holmdel, Matawan, and Middletown, NJ.

Dr Shrem was excellent. I had an ingrown toenail and he took a look and then explained to me what needed to be done. Everything was all done quickly but I didn’t feel rushed. He took his time and was efficient. I will definitely recommend him and will be seeing him again in 2 weeks at my follow up appointment. And the office staff was very helpful and nice, too.
