Establishing connections with patients can be the starting point to explore issues causing mental struggles in us. My goal is to be the working partner with patients and work through these issues to alleviate both mental and physical distress. Areas of interests for me include depression, anxiety, stress and trauma related disorders, mood disorders, Asian American and immigrant mental health. I use both psychotherapy and medications as indicated in my treatment. Therapeutic approaches that I use include psychodynamic, behavioral, and supportive therapies. As for my educational and training background, I attended University of Pennsylvania for my undergraduate study and received my medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. I started my training in psychiatry at Hahnemann University Hospital where I completed my internship and finished my psychiatry residency at Temple University Hospital. My training allowed me to work with a very diverse patient population in various clinical settings. Please note the following about my practice: 1. I DO NOT provide disability assessments. 2. Due to the risks of harm and abuse associated with long-term use of controlled substances such as benzodiazepines and hypnotics, I only prescribed these medications sparingly at low doses and only over a limited short period of time. 3. Given the complexity of causes affecting attention and the potential risks associated with stimulant medications, ADHD evaluations are performed over multiple sessions for patients new to me seeking stimulant treatment and the evaluation result may not necessarily align with the result from previous treatment providers.
