Dr. Puthuvel was awarded the Resident Teaching Award in 2007. This was presented by Medical Students for Excellence in Clinical Instruction. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family. Dr. Puthuvel earned an M.D. from Kasturba Medical College in 1999, completed a residency in psychiatry at East Tennessee State University in 2011, and became board certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2012.

Dr. Puthuvel was very kind and did a great job of explaining everything that was being discussed. He is not one of those doctors to immediately seek out one diagnosis and prescribe medication immediately. Instead, he listens, explains what he thinks it is and provides options for different methods of treatment. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone in need and will be following up with him in the future.
