Getting to know Shannon Fitzgerald

I am a Nurse Practitioner board-certified in both Family Medicine and Psychiatry. I have over 10 years of experience as an NP. I welcome any patients who desire the need to seek help. Individuals with mental illness exhibit characteristics such as changes in mood, behaviors, and cognitive functioning, which can significantly impact their daily lives and relationships. There are no ideal clients, and I would love to work with anyone who is experiencing emotional and/or behavioral changes, cognitive impairments, physical symptoms, social withdrawal, increased in sensitivity and apathy with a lack of initiative.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I will help my patients through impactful understanding, listening without judgement, demonstrating empathy, and offering practical assistance. In our appointments we will communicate openly, and I will help to build a supportive network to support you in your journey towards mental health. I believe the most important step of seeing a new patient is to establish trust between one another. Trust is essential in mental health as it fosters a supportive environment where patients can feel safe to express themselves and seek help.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first visit, I would like to spend a good amount of time getting to know you and understand the reasons that brought you to seek care for mental health. I do like to ask questions but the appointment and what we discuss is driven by the patient. Although I am a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Psychiatry and focus on the clinical and medical aspect, I am happy to partake in talk therapy although I always recommend a team approach by also seeing a therapist on a regular basis.

Ms Shannon was just so caring and listen every word I had to say. She really shows nothing but caring and Thoughtfulness and was concerned with everything I had to talk about. I Would highly Recommend Shannon for anyone who needs to be seen and needs an Appointment. She Honestly Saved my Life.
I am 42 years old and working law enforcement. Brother personally or professionally I have had to see my share of doctors and other specialists in medical professionals throughout my life. I always hated going to the doctor and partially that's because I'm a sever hypochondriac. I normally don't even leave. This is the first time I'm actually looking for to go back to the doctor to see her again. Within the first 2 minutes she put all my fears at rest and made me feel comfortable and welcome. Usually when I'm speaking to doctors I feel like everything I say goes in one ear and out the other but I was blown away by how attentive she was. It was the first time in my life I felt like somebody was actually listening to me in a doctor's office. Not only did she take care of the issue that I came to see her about, but she responded to other medical issues that I had. These were problems that I thought I would have to deal with the rest of my life. wish there was more space to write!!
I have been blessed to know Shannon and her team for the last couple years, She has always been an embodiment of kindness, compassion, and empathy! NEVER judgmental! She always puts your best interest above all else! I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone and everybody! She is truly an extraordinary individual!

Shannon is one of those doctors you need to have on your team of providers. She truly is a change maker in this world and is helping people get better day in and day out.
Shannon was BEYOND punctual! Any questions that I had regarding any medication or side effects regarding medication Shannon took the time to explain and calm any nerves I had! A wonderful visit!!
