Getting to know Dr. Shannon Moore-Langston

Hello, I'm Shannon Moore-Langston, MD, a board-certified general adult psychiatrist and a graduate of Wayne State University Medical School with a Doctor of Medicine degree. I welcome patients 18 and over from all backgrounds into my practice and have experience with a range of concerns, including mood, trauma, substance use, anxiety, and psychosis. My approach I use a combination of medication management, supportive and psychodynamic approaches, somatic tools, and cognitive behavioral interventions to help people understand and work through difficult feelings, thoughts, and situations. My focus I am honored to be a resource for all of my patients, including those dealing with the emotional and psychological effects of marginalization based on race or ethnicity, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation. My communication style Deep listening and respect for the whole person are core values in my practice. My first session with you To ensure we have a productive first visit, please fill out your intake form in advance. During our first visit, we will complete a full mental health assessment and evaluation, which will include many questions about your medical and mental health history. Working together to determine an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan is important for your mental health and may require multiple appointments. Controlled medications may be available from my practice on a limited basis and rarely during the first session. All paperwork, such as FMLA and related forms, will only be considered after several sessions of treatment and as clinically indicated. Once we have completed your evaluation, we can discuss a treatment plan specific to your needs that will help you start feeling better as soon as possible.

Very thorough with her intake. Doesn’t rush into anything which I appreciate

I don't think this is Dr. Moore-Langston's fault--maybe it was the practice she is a part of--but I never received any confirmation or information on how to join the appointment. I *did* receive intake forms from Rula (a separate service), but when I logged on to Rula to see if there was any appointment info, there was none. Again, I don't think this is Dr. Moore-Langston's fault, it could just be an issue of ZocDoc/Rula/her practice not communicating properly.

My appointment was at 9 AM and I left four messages. I didn’t have any instructions on how to join the session. Just a frustrating hour. ?
