About Dr. Sheena Ogando
Dr. Sheena Ogando is a NYC-born, raised, and trained rheumatologist who earned her Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical School and completed her Fellowship in Rheumatology at Montefiore Medical Center. Since 2016, she has worked professionally in California, caring for complex patients in the border city of San Diego, a community largely composed of immigrants, refugees, and the homeless. She has found great fulfillment in restoring their quality of life through the use of state-of-the-art medications for destructive joint disease. Dr. Ogando is excited to return to her community in Nassau County and serve the patients of PRINE Health.

re:Dr. Ogando: I really wanted to go in there with a positive attitude and benefit of the doubt because it was my first time seeing her, I have an extensive medical history and I have been to multiple providers to try and figure out my health condition. She started off by explaining that she is going to use an AI scribe to help with her notes. She barely looked up from the screen, didn't hear anything I said. I had to repeat multiple times that certain levels were recently checked and that I DIDN'T have a certain organs. She asked me multiple times for test values I said I DIDN'T have. I feel like she should have had extensive bedside manner especially when I stated I felt like it has been difficult to have a provider hear what I'm saying. One of the first things she said to me was that I should see a different specialist and pulls up google. She later tried to refer me to ANOTHER speciality even though I had already been. Overall, I am disappointed with the perceived lack of empathy.

This was a first/new patient appt. Dr. Ogando came across as extremely knowledgable, serious and thoughtful. An excellent bedside manner . She listened carefully, asked meaningful questions, and answered my questions thoroughly.
Office staff were professional and very nice. Appt ran right on time! Very efficient office. A+

I made an appointment with Dr. Ogando based on an ER referral. As expected with Zocdoc, her office called the morning of my appointment saying the timeslot wasn’t available and rescheduled me two days later. I accepted since no other rheumatologist I called had an earlier opening. I even received a reschedule confirmation from Zocdoc, which only her office could initiate.
When I arrived, I was told I was not in their system. The receptionist confirmed I had been rescheduled by one of their colleagues and explained this to Dr. Ogando, who had a 25-minute gap before her next patient. Despite the error being on her practice’s end, she refused to see me, suggesting instead I wait hours for a possible no-show or return after her day ended. This lack of accountability and compassion was extremely upsetting. If this is how new patients are treated before even being seen, I can only imagine what ongoing care would look like. With this in mind, I cannot in good conscience recommend Dr. Ogando.

I called to say I would be running behind for the appointment and despite that, she still didn't see me. Instead, she talked about her lavish life. Her sister getting married and her parents selling a house or something. Overall, the experience was tone deaf and very much not good. I'm sure she's good for others but not for me.

She did not listen to anything I said and barely did an exam. Explicitly told her I do not want weight loss medication, so she lectured me about why I should be taking weight loss medication. Poor bedside manner, unfriendly and did not address my concerns.

Dr. Sheena Ogando and PRINE Rheumatology was a great experience for me! I had a 2 hour drive one way and it was well worth it. Dr. Ogando toom time and looked through all of my blood work and prescribed medication that was ready at my local pharmacy before I got home. The front office staff was friendly and helpful. The staff kept telling me how “backed up” the doctor was. There were 5 patients in the office the entire 2 hours I was there.
I was on time to my 2:30 appt and wasn’t seen until about 3:30. After I saw the doctor she told me “hang out” in the patient room until she gets back. I was waiting there for 45 minutes until a PA comes in assuming I need bloodwork done. I told her I did not need bloodwork as I had it done a month ago. The doctor was aware of this and was looking up my bloodwork results. The PA tells me “Okay you’re all good to go.”
Basically they wasted 45 minutes of my time and didn’t acknowledge their lack of bear minimum communication.
Checking out and getting a note for work took another 20 minutes.
I get home only to realize that the doctor never filled my prescription and had to wait (in pain) until 9am the next day to get the medication.
Worst doctor experience I’ve ever had. Beware.

Dr Ogando provided no reassurance to me and hardly spoke to me at all during my appointment. When I told her about my symptoms she did not have any response. I had prior authorization from my insurance and the front desk wouldn’t accept it so I had to pay out of pocket. When I was checking out, the front desk asked me when the doctor wanted to see me again and I told them I wasn’t sure because she didn’t say.. they didn’t bother to check with the doctor and did not make me a follow up appointment. It felt like a very uncomfortable environment

The office staff left me in the exam room for 30 minutes after the doctor saw me. I finally got up and went to the front desk to inquire if anyone would let me go and they asked the doctor if my exam was complete and she said yes.
