About Dr. Shehnaz Sarmast
Dr. Shehnaz Zaman Sarmast is a dermatologist with extensive training in general, pediatric, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She enjoys working with patients of all ages.
Dr. Sarmast was raised in San Antonio, Texas where she graduated summa cum laude from University of Texas San Antonio. Dr. Sarmast received her Doctorate of Medicine from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where she was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her internal medicine internship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and then went on to complete her dermatology residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Dr. Sarmast is married and has one daughter. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Very clean and organized office, I was seen right away. Signing up for an account on Zocdoc and digitally entering all my information was the only annoying part, as I spent more time doing that and verifying my appointment than the actual length of my appointment (appointment less than 5 minutes).
However, the plus was that when I arrived, I did not have to fill out any paperwork! That was a first. So perhaps all the initial work was worth it.
Doctor gave factual and detailed information to me, but I felt the office was a bit pushy on trying to schedule follow-ups.
Overall it was a positive experience and I would recommend them to someone looking for a dermatologist.

Dr Sarmast was very professional in every regard. She identified problem areas with ease and articulated in terms that were easily understood. After this visit, I completely understand the necessity of at least an annual visit frequency. I’ve been a patient for several years now and the staff, medical assistants and MDs have always been friendly, attentive and helpful. I highly recommend Dr Sarmast to anyone looking for excellence in dermatology care.

I filled out the forms online but then had to fill out more once in the office. All the same information was asked.
Nice staff, very busy. Had to wait 10 minutes just to check in. Wasn’t seen by the physician until 35 minutes after our appointment time. We arrived at 2:00 for a 2:35 appointment.
Dr. Sarmast has a wonderful bedside manner and connected well with my daughter. This was our first visit.

my appointment was at the end of the day. I don't feel she rushed me but I could tell she was tired and not completely attentive to my concerns. However she is human and we all cannot function at 100% all the time. I do feel she is a good doctor and I have a follow up appointment and will continue to see her.

I believe that they have over booked patients on the day I went. The receptionist was not in the happiest of moods, and you could hear the office staff telling one another that there was no way they could see all these patients. Once I got into see the doctor, she came in quickly, but the visit was very fast(kind of like herding cattle) and to the point so you better be able to communicate any concerns you have in regards to your skin.
