Shelly Thomas is a board-certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 26 years of varied experience in healthcare. He holds a Master's degree in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Walden University. Shelly provides person-centered psychiatric care, always keeping the client's best interests at the forefront of any treatment decisions. His focus is to offer empathetic and accessible care to patients with mental health challenges. Being an accessible, honest, and non-judgmental clinician is very important to this affable nurse practitioner. He understands the toll mental health problems can take on a client's functioning in relationships, work, and study settings. Shelly is adept at treating clients with ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorders, psychotic disorders, and other mental health conditions.
What should a new client know about working with you?
As your mental health provider, I want to help you to achieve your full potential and an individual and the member of the community you live. I consider that improving the quality of life of the clients in their every day life is part of my duty at work.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I use listening and questioning about specific symptoms while doing the diagnostic process with a client. Use of testing materials and talk therapy are also as part of the treatment and evaluation when needed.

I'm extremely grateful for the care that was provided to me by Shelly Thomas, NP. He is an outstanding communicator. I am someone that has a very hard time accepting mental health help, and it was a blessing that when I did reach out for help, it was Mr. Thomas that helped me. I know this may sound over-complimentary, but the entire virtual experience was great and I felt extremely listened to and understood. I hope to continue care with him.

My first visit with Dr. Shelly Thomas was great! He’s a very good listener and I felt heard. He gave suggestions while listening to my needs and it seems we have come up with a plan. I see him again in a month to follow up. I highly suggest making an appointment with him!
