About Dr. Shemsu Balker
Dr. Shemsu D. Balker was born and raised in Ethiopia. He received his medical degree from Jimma University College of Public Health and Medical Sciences. Dr. Balker moved to the United States in 1989 and passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination steps 1, 2 and 3 and was certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. He did his internship at St. Vincent Medical Center of New York Medical College in Staten Island, New York and his residency in Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Balker is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has been practicing internal medicine for the last 17 years.

I really enjoyed my short visit with Dr. Balker. He was very personable and answered all of my questions. I conducted my annual physical and it took less than 1 hour. Very pleased with the promptness and efficiency of my appointment.

The front desk staff were pleasant and even polite after my bad experience with the doctor. Shemsu Balker stood in my face and gaslit me about the issue I was there to address causing me to walk out five minutes after he walked into the room. As a doctor you should listen to your patient… the person paying for your services. While you can recommend things because it is your area of expertise, if a patient tells you something is wrong with them you listen and administer the proper testing. I would not recommend anyone to visit this office. Shemsu Balker is a poor excuse for a doctor and I worry for his patients with more serious health conditions.
