Dr. Sonia Diaz, MD

Psychiatrist
VA
I'm Dr. Sonia Mia Diaz, a psychiatry-trained physician and founder of Welmivia, a concierge precision psychiatry practice serving adults across Virginia and Florida via telehealth. My work is built around a simple premise: most people seeking mental health care are not being treated as individuals. They're being matched to a diagnosis code and a standard medication algorithm, regardless of their physiology or the specific way their brain and body actually respond to treatment. At Welmivia, every patient evaluation is built on a comprehensive clinical intake and diagnostic workup, so treatment decisions are grounded in your actual history, labs, and response patterns, not just symptom checklists. This forms the foundation of what I call the Welmivia Blueprint: a personalized, data-informed roadmap for cognitive and mental health optimization, covering medication strategy, supplementation, and neurooptimization techniques tailored to you. I work with high-performing adults who want more precision and more time than a typical 15-minute med check allows. Visits are unhurried, follow-up is responsive, and treatment plans evolve as we gather more data about what actually works for you. Welmivia offers both membership-based care (Core and Signature tiers, with ongoing access and included services) and à la carte visits for those who prefer to pay per visit. Every plan starts with a Precision Psychiatric Evaluation, drawing on lab work and a detailed clinical history to build a treatment approach specific to you. If you're looking for psychiatric care that treats you as a data set of one rather than a diagnosis, I'd welcome the opportunity to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm a psychiatry-trained physician, and my approach is built for people who want more depth and more time than typical psychiatric care allows. Visits are unhurried. I ask a lot of questions, and I expect clients to be active participants in their own care, not passive recipients of a prescription. I work primarily with high-performing adults focused on cognitive and mental health optimization, not just symptom management. That means treatment plans often go beyond medication alone to include supplementation and behavioral strategies tailored to you. Welmivia is a direct-pay practice, and I offer both membership plans and à la carte visits depending on what fits your needs. New clients should expect the first evaluation to be thorough, sometimes more thorough than what they're used to, because getting an accurate clinical picture up front saves time and trial-and-error later. I currently see patients in Virginia and Florida via telehealth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every new client starts with a Precision Psychiatric Evaluation, a comprehensive session that goes well beyond a standard intake. We review your full history, current symptoms, prior treatment attempts, and relevant labs to build a complete clinical picture before making any recommendations. From there, I develop a personalized treatment plan, the Welmivia Blueprint, that may include medication strategy, targeted supplementation, and specific neurooptimization techniques suited to your goals. Follow-up visits are where the plan gets refined. I track how you're actually responding, not just whether symptoms have resolved, and adjust as needed. Members have ongoing access for questions and check-ins between visits, so care doesn't stop at the appointment. Annual reviews keep the plan current as your needs change. Throughout, my goal is precision over speed. I would rather take the time to get a treatment plan right than rush you through a fifteen-minute visit and hope for the best.

More information on payments and coverage

Welmivia is a direct-pay practice and does not accept insurance. This allows for longer visits, more clinical flexibility, and treatment decisions made without insurance restrictions on time or approach. A $150 deposit is required for all patients to secure the initial Precision Psychiatric Evaluation. For follow-up visits, à la carte patients pay a $50 deposit to book; Core and Signature members are not required to pay a deposit for follow-ups. The remaining balance is collected before the start of your appointment on the day of your visit. For clients who prefer ongoing care, Welmivia offers Core and Signature membership tiers, which include a set of services at a flat monthly or annual rate along with discounted rates on additional visits and labs. À la carte visits are also available for those who prefer to pay per session without a membership. Some services, including specialty lab panels, are billed separately from visit fees regardless of membership status. Details on what is included in each plan are reviewed during your initial evaluation, and our team is happy to answer any billing questions before you book. Superbills for insurance reimbursement upon request. Clients are welcome to check with their insurance provider regarding out-of-network mental health benefits.
