Getting to know Dr. Sonia Parikh

I am a Stanford-trained board certified and licensed medical doctor and psychotherapist who specializes in the psychiatric evaluation and treatment of adults ages 18 and older. I am currently accepting new patients by telemedicine and do not accept insurance (I am out-of-network with insurances and provide a superbill for reimbursement from insurance). I enjoy working with people who want to truly understand and heal the underlying wounds that are holding them back in their life. I work well with those who are curious about their minds and have a goal to function in their lives from a place of grounded trust in themselves. Given my extensive medical and psychological training, I provide comprehensive and compassionate care for the people I treat and am adept at helping people move successfully through a range of difficulties. I aim to help you understand and heal from your core wounds and strengthen your trust in and connection with your authentic self. Ultimately, my goal is to help you be anchored, whole and resilient in your day to day life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide thorough and in-depth psychiatric evaluation and psychodynamic psychotherapy for a range of conditions, including but not limited to ADHD, anxiety, panic disorder PTSD, OCD, depressive states, bipolar disorder, psychosis, substance use disorders, grief, sleep disturbances, postpartum issues, marital conflict, etc. I work with patients to create individualized treatment plans that usually includes depth and mixed modality psychotherapy and medications and supplements if needed.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I provide thorough and in-depth psychiatric evaluation and psychodynamic psychotherapy for a range of conditions, including but not limited to ADHD, anxiety, panic disorder PTSD, OCD, depressive states, bipolar disorder, psychosis, substance use disorders, grief, sleep disturbances, postpartum issues, marital conflict, etc. I work with patients to create individualized treatment plans that usually includes depth and mixed modality psychotherapy and medications and supplements if needed. Diagnostic evaluation is usually 60 minutes (cost: $700) and follow ups range in timing depending on if the patient prefers medication management with brief psychotherapy only (30 minutes at $350), or longer sessions to truly delve into the root causes of symptoms (45-60 minutes prorated in price accordingly). I integrate biologic conceptualization of psychiatric conditions with my deep understanding of psychoanalytic thought and sociologic factors to think holistically about the human experience and the difficulties that may arise. From this complete perspective, I craft a treatment plan with your feedback meeting you exactly where you are to move you towards your goals.

I have been a patient of Dr. Parikh for many years. She is an exceptional psychiatrist whose kindness and compassion got me through a very dark time and I am deeply grateful for her care.
I have been a long time patient of Dr. Parikh and she has been critical in the ongoing management of my medical needs. She is warm, personable and truly cares about the outcome of her patients. Her holistic approach to treatment sets her apart from other providers. And she is always willing to try different ways to tackle stubborn challenges. I can't recommend Dr Parikh highly enough. If you are willing to be open and honest regarding your needs and adherence, she will do what she can to improve your life. She has always made herself available and treated me dignity and respect.
Dr. Sonia Parikh is by far the best psychiatrist I have ever had, and I've had many. She is extremely knowledgeable, has an amazing bedside manner, and truly understands that each patient is different. On top of this, Dr. Parikh always has my back, answers back incredibly quickly, and is easy to get ahold of. I would give her an 11/10. She truly goes the extra mile for me and I wouldn't switch to anyone else if someone paid me. I would recommend Dr. Parikh to anyone. Again, I have had many prior psychiatrists and she is absolutely exemplary from phamological knowledge to diagnosing. I am not an easy patient due to my past and she is literally the only psychiatrist I trust.
I've been a patient of Dr. Parikh for many years, and have found her to be exceptionally intelligent, compassionate, and capable. There is nothing more I could ask of a provider, and I hope to never lose access to her care.
For years I had a problem with bipolar depression, and nothing was working, no matter what meds I took. Seeing Dr. Parikh was a good idea. She helped me find a good combination of meds that stabilized my mood. I'm really thankful.
