About Soyeon (Stella) Shim

Stella was born in South Korea and moved to the United States at 16. She now lives in Queens with her husband and mother. Her journey into acupuncture was inspired by her sister’s recovery from a major car accident. After surgeries and years of medication, acupuncture and herbal medicine played a key role in her healing, leaving a lasting impression on Stella Before joining WTHN, she worked at a pain management clinic, collaborating with physical therapists and doctors, which deepened her understanding of integrating Western and Eastern medicine. Stella appreciates TCM’s focus on prevention and overall wellness, and she is fascinated by how the balance of Qi, Yin, and Yang affects health. She studied acupuncture at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and holds a Biology degree from Temple University. One of her proudest moments was successfully treating a patient with acute facial muscle atrophy, highlighting the importance of the patient-practitioner relationship. Her favorite at-home TCM practices are pressure point massage and cupping, which offer easy muscle and stress relief. She believes her style of acupuncture is shaped by her experience working with diverse patients in a high-volume clinic, where cultural awareness is key to effective care. For wellness, Stella prioritizes walking 10,000 steps a day for consistency and health. Outside of her practice, she enjoys camping and finds peace in cooking over a campfire."
