About Dr. Stefanie Ogawa

Stefanie Ogawa, MD, FAAP, was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after working in a maternal and child clinic in East Africa at 19. She continued to volunteer with various underserved populations throughout Central and South America. "Working with children and their families gives me an immense amount of joy," she says. As a provider, Dr. Ogawa likes to address issues before they become problems. "I am firm believer in Benjamin Franklin's quote 'An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,'" she says. "This is true for many things in pediatrics, an example, childhood obesity. Addressing this important issue when the child is young can lead to a great number of benefits as they grow to be an adult - and the whole family can benefit from positive changes in the household." After earning her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Dr. Ogawa completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital Oakland in California. She continued on to a fellowship in pediatric critical care at the University of California San Francisco and Children's Hospital Oakland. Dr. Ogawa was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, before spending 20 years in Georgia. In her free time, she enjoys running with her dog, rock climbing and all outdoor activities. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Japanese.
