About Dr. Steven Blanken
Dr. Steven Selby Blanken is a native Washingtonian and the grandson of the late Dr. Morris Selby, podiatrist. He is a graduate of Springbrook High School and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland at College Park. Dr. Blanken received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine (formerly Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine). He completed two residency programs: one in Podiatric Surgery at Delaware Valley Community Health and another at Thomas H. Corey VA Medical Center, specializing in Foot Surgery and Foot and Ankle Orthopedics.
He is board certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery (Certified in Foot Surgery) and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Blanken is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. A former residency director of a podiatric surgical program, he remains active in the training of podiatric residents and students.
Dr. Blanken serves as the podiatry consultant for Performance Laboratories, a national Foot and Ankle Orthotic Laboratory. He treats patients of all ages for most foot and ankle conditions.
Dr. Steven Blanken is the director and owner of the Foot and Ankle Center at the Burkland Medical Center, a certified ambulatory surgery center.

I would highly recommend Dr. Blanken. I had seen another podiatrist already this year. The podiatrist himself was OK, but his office seems very unorganized. They were difficult to get in touch with, and had me act as the middleman between his office and my insurance. I was never able to straighten it out. This is all to say that Dr. Blanken’s office was the complete opposite. Everybody was friendly and competent. He will be my podiatrist moving forward.

Their offices are located in an older, established office building so rooms are smaller, but we'll furnished with autographed photos of sports figures which I liked. Smaller offices with doors open slowed nurses and doctors to come and go quickly and communicate needs easily. It also allows you to hear the wonderful bedside manner of Dr. Blanken explaining procedures and reassuring patients. I found that comforting, especially with my anxiety from visits to other podiatrists. I had an ingrown toenail repaired and Dr. Blanken administered anesthetic almost painlessly and I didn't feel any pain firing the procedure. I was thrilled with that.

I was seen by the younger Dr. Blanken. He made the process easy to understand, and he made sure I saw the xrays of my foot. His staff was very friendly and helpful with getting doctor's note, form for my handicap placard, and they even gave me some tips to walk better on my crutches.
