Getting to know Dr. Steven Clevenger

Please note I am not currently taking new patients requiring stimulant prescriptions such as Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta, and Ritalin outside of the states of Illinois and Michigan due to changes in telehealth regulation. These visits will require in person visits periodically. Hello and welcome, my name is Dr. Steven Clevenger, and I am here to help you achieve a sustainable recovery. I focus on you, the individual, and draw on my broad personal and training experience to craft a personalized care plan. Utilizing the latest evidence-based approaches including comprehensive lab work, genetic testing (when applicable), medications, supplements, lifestyle changes, and therapy, we will work together to help you achieve the best version of yourself. I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. I completed my residency in Psychiatry at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital. My background includes medical training in urban Los Angeles and NYC as well as rural training in West Michigan. Additionally, I have been a lifelong athlete, a multi-published author in Wellness and Lifestyle Medicine, and the founder of three different businesses. I will draw on my medical training, research, and personal experience to help guide you down a personalized path to health and prosperity.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Collaboration is key to effective treatment. My practice is based on principles of a non-judgmental approach, there is no “ideal person”, each one of us is unique and it will be our goal together to help you achieve the best version of yourself. I offer two different care plans through my practice. We do take insurance(as listed) charging per session through the headways platform. Cash prices are also listed, cash paying patients will be provided with direct access to physician on an as needed basis within normal daytime hours. Please note I am not currently taking new patients requiring stimulant prescriptions such as adderall, vyvanse, concerta and ritalin. I do treat ADHD with non stimulants.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions will be focused on information gathering and getting a full picture of the issues that you are facing. Medications will be prescribed as appropriate. After the first 1-3 sessions we will lay out short term and long term treatment goals. These goals will be based on observations made by the clinician, issues identified by the patient. Goals will be discussed and mutually agreed upon. Subsequent sessions will be to monitor progress and make adjustments to our plan. Please note I am not currently taking new patients requiring stimulant prescriptions such as adderall, vyvanse, concerta and ritalin. I do treat ADHD with non stimulants.

Video visit
Dr. Clevenger provided excellent care. I've had a little anxiety here recently, and I just wasn't sure that it was being handled as well as possible. I felt he listened closely to my concerns and offered support at appropriate times. I really didn't know what to expect because 1. I was using an internet platform to 2. schedule an online meeting with 3. a doctor that I'd never met! haha. But the online appointment proceeded exactly as expected and it was great! I feel confident going forward and have scheduled a follow-up. I hope that your experience goes as well as mine!

Dr. Clevenger is a doctor I’d highly recommend. He’s incredibly patient, knowledgeable, warm, and compassionate. Unlike other psychiatrists, he will educate you on the mediation he is prescribing to you. He is articulate about his treatment plan and intentions towards how he can help manage your diagnosis. He also welcomes an open line of communication and is responsive if the need arises. His care is felt through his treatment of his patients.
