About Dr. Steven Garner

Dr. Steven Garner is the Founder/Medical Director of UltraDerm MedSpa in Santa Cruz. As the Garner Family’s 3rd generation of physicians in the U.S.A., Dr. Garner attended Boston University for both college and medical school. Following those 8 educational years, Dr. Garner spent an additional 8 years of surgical training at the University of Iowa (Surgery Internship, ENT Residency), University of Southern California (Plastic Surgery Residency), and University of Miami (Craniofacial-Maxillofacial Fellowship). These combined 16 years of medical/surgical training resulted in full Board Certification by both The American Board of Plastic Surgery and also The American Board of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. Moving to Santa Cruz in 1993, Dr. Garner developed his solo private practice of Plastic Surgery and the UltraDerm MedSpa from the ground up also having taught on the Plastic Surgery faculty at Stanford University and University of Texas. In addition to provided ER Plastic Surgery care regardless of insurance at our local community hospitals for decades, Dr. Garner also has volunteered on surgical missions all over the world, from war torn Croatia to Colombia to Bangladesh. His surgical mission work has ranged from treating severe birth defects in infants with cleft lips and palates to cancer surgery and burn reconstruction in patients of all ages. Additionally, Dr. Garner is honored to continue volunteering his Plastic Surgical expertise to surgeons worldwide in developing nations via an Internet forum. From India to Africa, doctors worldwide receive free expert counsel and guidance from Dr. Garner. Since early 2016, Dr. Garner devotes his full time to being Medical Director of UltraDerm MedSpa while continuing to provide limited and selective surgical care. In 2018, Dr. Garner was honored to become an Oral Examiner for The American Board of Plastic Surgery.
