About Dr. Steven Shumer

Dr. Shumer graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree and also received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He did his internship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Shumer completed his dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. During his training he published research in the treatment of difficult warts with Bleomycin injections. He became a board certified dermatologist upon completion of his residency training. Dr. Shumer served as chairman of the dermatology department at William Beaumont Hospital from 1995 to 2011. He has been voted “Top Doc” in dermatology, numerous times as reported annually in metropolitan Detroit’s Hour Magazine. This award is determined by 16,000 surveys mailed to M.D.s and D.O.s who nominate colleagues they deem “the best” in their given specialties. Dr. Shumer is active in the Michigan Dermatological Society and has served as chairman of the ethics committee. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology.
