About Dr. Sunavo Dasgupta

Sunavo Dasgupta, MD, is a fellowship-trained interventional pain physician and double board-certified anesthesiologist. He serves as co-director of the MacNeal Hospital Pain Clinic. Dr. Dasgupta earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his anesthesia residency at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the top anesthesia programs in the country. He then successfully completed his interventional pain fellowship at the University of Michigan, one of the top fellowship programs in the country. He has presented abstracts at the American Society of Regional Anesthesiologists conference, the largest and most prestigious conference for pain physicians. He has been invited to lecture at multiple grand rounds on topics ranging from novel intubation techniques to peripheral nerve catheter use in the treatment of CRPS. His research has focused on the use of peripheral field stimulation in the treatment of occipital neuralgia. Most recently, he was published in the distinguished medical journal Anesthesia and Analgesia for his work in helping to improve patient pain control in the postoperative period. Dr. Dasgupta is a firm believer in the multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of pain. He believes that pain management is not always accomplished with a needle or scalpel. There are many facets to each patient's pain that must all be addressed. Every patient is different, and Dr. Dasgupta treats each patient as an individual, helping them to lead more productive, functional, and enjoyable lives. Dr. Dasgupta is expertly trained in the treatment of both acute and chronic pain. His clinical interests include spinal cord stimulation, headache/cervicalgia treatment, CRPS, and peripheral field stimulation.
