Tara Mauro, DO is a board certified psychiatrist licensed to practice medicine in California. Her core practice is in general psychiatry. Dr. Mauro has served the military for 13 years with a tour to Iraq. She has served as a Medical Director in both Addictions and Psychiatry where she has trained medical students, residents and physician assistants. She has transitioned to the Civilian sector where she has worked both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs to better help patients with anxiety and mood disorders. She believes in developing a therapeutic alliance and a collaborative relationship with her patients regarding their treatment. She has her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville. She has her DO Degree from University of Pikeville, School of Osteopathic Medicine. Residency with the joint training program from Boonshoft School of Medicine and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She has an extensive experience in treating patients with both psychotherapy in particular Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Medication Management.

Dr. Mauro is literally the best psychiatrist I have ever had!! I have been meeting with her for a few months and I have nothing but positive things to say about her. I am in the mental health field and have worked alongside many psychiatrists and seen my fair share of them over the years. She is of the top caliber when it comes to quality care and bedside manner. You will not find many psychiatrists with the ability to be as personable and knowledgeable as her. Dr. Mauro has a way of making her patients feel heard and understood while also having the skill set to help navigate medications and managing symptoms. I highly recommend her and have already referred some friends to her that have had the same positive experiences. I have also has a pretty positive experience with Psycare as well!!
