Dr. Teri Powers earned her master's and doctoral degrees in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Emperor's College in Santa Monica, CA. During her studies, Dr. Powers was awarded a grant that took her to Taiwan for advanced studies. Dr. Powers completed her doctoral degree in orthopedics and pain management. Her interest and success in treating sports injuries attracted elite college and professional athletes, including the women's World Cup and members of the Kings hockey organization. In 2005, Teri left a lucrative private practice to become the Director of Clinical Education at Samra University, shortly after becoming the college's Academic Dean. She went on to serve in senior leadership at several colleges of Asian medicine, including as President and CEO of AIMC in Berkeley and Northwestern. Dr. Powers retired from education in 2022 as the Executive Director of the Pacific College of Health Sciences, San Diego Campus. The largest college of Chinese medicine in the USA. Throughout her years in acupuncture education, Dr. Powers continued to enhance her expertise in acupuncture, including its various other therapies and Chinese herbal medicine. Dr Powers has been instrumental in shaping the direction and landscape of professional practice of Asian medicine in the US through developing and launching master's and doctoral programs. Beyond pain management, Dr. Powers has developed programs in fertility and reproductive medicine and mind-body medicine at colleges nationwide. She has sought to seamlessly blend the pearls of Asian medicine with the offerings of biomedicine. At this point in her career, Dr Powers continues to consult with colleges nationwide and teach in doctoral programs. She makes private practice her priority due to the immense joy she gets from seeing the relief and benefits that Chinese medicine brings to individuals.
