Getting to know Dr. Thabit Al-Khateeb
Dr. Al-Khateeb is board-certified in General Adult Psychiatry. He completed his psychiatric residency training at Harlem Hospital Center, affiliated with Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. There, he served as an administrative chief resident, a position that requires both teaching and responsibility for supervising clinical performance in resident trainees.
Prior to his position at Harlem Hospital, Dr. Al-Khateeb also trained at East Tennessee State University, where he was a research assistant in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is the author of both research articles and book chapters.
Dr. Al-Khateeb obtained his medical degree from Mu’tah University in Karak, Jordan, and completed his medical training in Jordan and at the University of Florida. He is board-certified through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a licensed provider in California, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Dr. Al-Khateeb provides telemedicine services, both medication management and individual therapy, and is currently welcoming new patients. He is experienced working with adult patients of diverse ages and backgrounds in outpatient settings and is well-versed in telepsychiatry technologies, including video conferencing and secure messaging.
He enjoys building strong, trust-based relationships with patients and is passionate about patient-centered care, encouraging patients to optimize their overall health and well-being by adopting and implementing healthy lifestyle interventions. He is dedicated to ongoing education and to incorporating evidence-based treatments in Psychiatry into his practice.
