About Dr. Thomas Bills
Thomas Bills, MD, PhD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstructive surgery and general orthopaedics at Mercer-Bucks Orthopaedics in Hamilton, and Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He is one of the founders of MBO. Dr. Bills grew up in Trenton, New Jersey. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Syracuse University in New York. He then moved to Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to complete a PhD in pharmacology and a Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College, now the Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia. He received advanced training in pediatric orthopaedics at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia; Trauma at Robert Wood Johnson Trauma Center in New Jersey; Joint Replacement at the Hospital for Special Surgery; Osteoporosis at Cornell Medical School; and Bone Tumor at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, New York. Dr. Bills is an active staff member of Capital Health Systems and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and an active attending staff at Lawrence Rehabilitation Center in Lawrenceville. He is an associate staff member at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He serves on the research staff as a visiting scientist at The Hospital for Special Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Research at Cornell Medical School in New York City, New York. He is a consulting staff physician at the Metabolic Bone Disease Service and Osteoporosis Center in the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell Medical School in New York City. Dr. Bills is a member of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and a recognized Certified Fracture Liaison. He is a member of the International Osteoporosis Foundation and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry, where he maintains special certification as a Clinical Densitometrist.

I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a doctor. I went in for an appointment to discuss my MRI results, but the doctor was completely unprepared. He didn’t take the time to go over my results in any meaningful way and, instead, rushed through the appointment like he couldn’t get out of the room fast enough. His attitude was off-putting, and I felt like I was more of a nuisance than a patient.
To make matters worse, his only advice was to see a specialized doctor for my care, which could have easily been conveyed with a phone call or through my primary care provider. It felt like a complete waste of my time and energy. There was no empathy, no attempt to explain anything, and no genuine interest in helping me with my concerns.
I would not recommend this doctor, especially if you’re looking for someone who will take the time to understand your needs and provide thoughtful care.

Could have been more thorough. They forgot about me and didn't bring back referral or paperwork. Doctor prescribed two prescriptions and one was not at the drug store and I am suffering all weekend. I need to call the office again to have them call it in.

I waited more than an hour. Nobody informed me the dr is late. PA came in to check my information, she was rude, made me feel like an intruder. Dr Bills was also rude, protected her PA. I learned Dr Bills as a very good doctor, but his staff should not work in healthcare. Will not see MBO again.

It was typical. Took an X-ray, which of course won’t show any soft tissue damage. I felt I was diagnosed with the usual less expensive option for starters, an impingement vs rotator cuff damage. As a lifetime athlete, we know our body well enough to know the difference between impingement vs tear. I just felt I was given the generic first diagnosis which is 4 weeks of PT. THEN I go back and get re-evaluated. I’ll eat crow if it ends up truly an impingement, but again, I know my body pretty well and know sports injuries. It definitely does not feel like an impingement with the clicking and crunching in my shoulder when I move my arm. But for seeing him literally for about 10 min max, what should I expect. .

I recently had a visit with Dr. Bills, and I was really impressed with his care. He was attentive and quickly addressed my concerns about shoulder and lower back pain. However, the overall experience was a bit frustrating. Despite having an appointment scheduled through Zocdoc, the wait time was much longer than expected. Additionally, the receptionist asked me to fill out forms again, even though I had already completed them online and had a confirmation message.
After my initial consultation, I was sent for an X-ray nearby, which required an additional hour of waiting before returning to the clinic. While it was quicker comparatively this time, the entire process took about 5 hours. Dr. Bills was great, but the administrative side could use some improvement to streamline the patient experience.

Easy to book appointment online. Front staff member was welcoming. Had to wait 40 minutes in room before MD arrived, but he asked the right questions, informed me of all of the potential causes, thoroughly looked at the X-ray, told me his best guess as to the problem, and gave me a script. ?? the pills take care of the problem.
