Despite disclosing extensive, well documented childhood trauma, he still refused to acknowledge any connection between my trauma history and of my current mental health issues. Mostly because there was no DAM-5 code that fits my exact situation. When I requested that he includes childhood trauma as a contributing factor in my medical record to support appropriate care, he didn’t seem to understand the relevance. Imagine talking to a psychiatrist who doesn’t understand the importance the link between extreme childhood trauma that results in adult mental health issues. Expect a surface level evaluation and a quick prescription. Nothing more.
