Getting to know Dr. Timothy Kaatman
I became interested in psychiatry early on while studying psychology in college. From my early experiences in medical training, it became clear to me that I had a natural ability to listen and provide empathetic care for my patients.
I believe in using evidence-based medicine and working collaboratively with patients toward a common goal. From living and working across the country, I have gained a diverse perspective and want to create a comfortable and professional relationship with patients. Providing education and counseling regarding psychiatric treatment is an important aspect of the field and I strive to accomplish it in every visit.
Completing my Adult Psychiatry training at the University of Kansas Medical Center, I am interested in a range of psychiatric conditions. Primary interests include Depressive and Anxiety Disorders, as well as specific concerns within the LGBTQ community. Throughout my training I have been consistently told that my unique ability to make a patient comfortable and heard is one of my greatest strengths. I am offering medication management appointments, and am excited to work with my patients toward a healthier future.

Wow! Emily the Physician that I saw was wonderful and one of the best workers in Mental Health that I have interacted with. This clinic will take you seriously about your concerns and have a 'game plan' or actions to take! I really loved how empathetic, caring, and understanding she was as well as her responsiveness to treatment. I just felt very validated and I appreciated so much her course for treatment. I have trauma, and she completely understood my opposition to Cognitive Behavorial therapy and medication---she said something I have been waiting to hear, that I should have a more targeted and specialized therapy for specifically trauma issues. So thank you Emily and thank you to the clinic!

WOW - Mental health is always hard to deal with! Finding a doctor who does not say "just go for a walk" to cure your extreme anxiety seems almost impossible these days. I switched to Dr. Kaatman truly because of his reviews online. I am here to say that the reviews are true! I FEEL HEARD, I feel important, I feel that he truly does love his job and cares for patients. I have never had a psych doctor spend more than 10-15 minutes getting to know me. He truly cared about all areas of my life. I really appreciate how open, non-judgmental, and welcoming he was. We did a video visit over a link provided by his office. I am really grateful to have met this doctor!

I had seen another psychiatrist previously and had a very negative experience. It's a very vulnerable situation, and I was very hesitant to see another psychiatrist. But within minutes, Dr. Kaatman made me feel very heard; he listened to me speak, without judgment, and asked proper questions, and created a very comfortable environment in which I was able to openly and honestly share my personal experience. He also was very educated, and I was able to have all my questions answered; I definitely would recommend seeing him.

Start of the appointment was punctual, and Dr. Kaatman was very friendly and a great listener. We discussed the reason for my visit and never did I feel uncomfortable or talked over. He took my concerns and questions very well and judgment free and I;m glad I found a provider that was right for me.
