Getting to know Tyler Simmons

My name is Tyler Simmons PA-C. I have a bachelors in Exercise physiology and a masters degree as a Physician Assistant. I achieved both at CMU. I have a passion for mental health which stems from my own journey, working through my issues as a survivor of child abuse. I am also a US Army veteran, I served as a Blackhawk mechanic and crew chief. I am married, my wife is from South Korea and we have one son. When I'm not at work, I love to spend time with my family, travel, exercise, or watch anime.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My philosophy of care is: it is not my job t tell you what to do. My job is to make sure you make an informed decision. I believe the most important thing about the patient-provider relationship is the patient must feel heard. If you don't feel I'm hearing your complaints and concerns, you'll never trust my medical recommendations.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I try and get to know the patient and get a full history of what medications they tried, what side effects they didn't like, and what their goals are for future care. The I try and set reasonable expectations.
