Getting to know Viet Nguyen

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I aim to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. I believe mental health care should be collaborative, practical, and tailored to your unique needs. My approach combines evidence-based treatment with real-life understanding whether that includes therapy, lifestyle changes, or medication management when appropriate. I value honesty, cultural awareness, and meeting you where you are. My goal is to help you feel more stable, confident, and in control of your mental health not just during appointments, but in your everyday life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to care is collaborative and individualized. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. I take time to understand your history, your goals, and what’s actually happening in your day to day life before making recommendations. I use evidence-based practices and focus on practical strategies that you can realistically apply outside of sessions. When medication is part of the plan, I prioritize thoughtful prescribing and ongoing adjustments to make sure it’s actually helping not just being tolerated. Most importantly, I see treatment as a partnership. You’re the expert on your experience, and I’m here to guide, support, and help you build tools that lead to long-term stability and growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your first session, you can expect a thorough but relaxed conversation. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, your mental health history, your current symptoms, and what you’re hoping to improve. I’ll also ask questions about sleep, stress, work, relationships, and any past treatments so I can get a full picture. This is also your time to ask questions. I’ll explain my clinical impressions, discuss possible treatment options, and we’ll decide together on next steps. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, clear about the plan, and comfortable moving forward.

Very professional and knowledgeable provider. Really listened to what I had to say and included me in creating a care plan that worked for me.
I recently had my first appointment with the provider and overall it was a positive experience. The provider was professional, attentive, and took the time to listen to my concerns without rushing the session. He asked thoughtful questions to better understand my situation and explained potential treatment options clearly. I appreciated that the discussion felt collaborative rather than dismissive, which made it easier to talk about personal issues. Overall, I had good experience with whole process.
