I experienced acupuncture for the first time back in 1984. I had been suffering from ear pain my medical doctor indicated he couldn't help me with. Like many people, I was frustrated and just wanted my pain managed, it was affecting my quality of life. I saw the acupuncturist on the recommendation of a friend because I was desperate. Who gets acupuncture anyway? It took a little time, but not only did my pain go away, but I also had more energy. Twenty years later I found myself in a similar situation, and getting the same results from acupuncture. I realized I wanted to make a difference in people's lives the same way my acupuncturist made a difference in mine. Four years and 2,880 hours later, I had earned my Masters in Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In April of 2009, I opened a small practice in Denver Colorado. Denver was not where I wanted to be so I signed up to do acupuncture on cruise ships. For several years, I educated people from all over the world on the benefits of acupuncture. What was lacking, for me, on ships was the ability to have a sense of continuity with the people I treated and educated. Occasionally, I would see a patient again and find out how they were doing, but only occasionally. What I am looking forward to most in Beaufort is being part of the community. I want to know how you are doing after a year, two years and even ten years from now. I hope to see you soon!?
