Getting to know Dr. Virginia Rockhill
As a licensed Psychologist with a PhD in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island, I first prioritize understanding not only why a person is reaching out to me but also relating to them based on their individual needs and expectations for therapy. I believe that we all need a sense of purpose or meaningfulness in our lives-something that our thoughts, emotions, and life experiences contribute to as the "heart" of our personalities.
The process of healing from life's challenges begins with a search for truth about our beliefs, habits, and relationships. Physical health is deeply connected to mental health through the complex interactions between the brain and bodily functions. In my sessions, I use interventions such as Cognitive Therapy, CBT, DBT, and ACT.
Throughout my career, I have worked in private practice, long-term care, and forensic and psychiatric hospitals. While these patient populations are diverse, the common denominator is the human "heart." My sessions aim to connect a person's sense of meaning in life to help them overcome anxiety, depression, and a loss of personal identity in this complex world.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My goal is to initially develop a treatment plan with my client, to clarify what the goals of therapy will be and how we will proceed to achieve those goals and what the discharge plan will be. The treatment plan can always be updated, and is briefly reviewed at the start of each session.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
