Getting to know Wesley Breneman

I’m a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner dedicated to helping people navigate life’s mental health challenges with compassion, insight, and practical support. I’ve seen how issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma, can take a toll on both emotional and physical wellbeing—and I’m here to help you address those challenges with a thoughtful, collaborative approach to care. My clinical background includes working in outpatient psychiatry and providing care for individuals facing complex and co-occurring conditions. I’ve worked closely with those navigating mood instability, trauma-related symptoms, and depression. These experiences have taught me that mental health care is never one-size-fits-all. Each person’s story is unique, and effective treatment begins with truly listening. My approach is centered on evidence-based medication management while also incorporating holistic and lifestyle-oriented strategies. I work closely with clients to explore how factors like sleep, nutrition, stress, and social support impact mental health. I believe medication can be a powerful tool, but it’s most effective when combined with long-term coping strategies, therapeutic insight, and individualized wellness planning. Whether you’re just beginning your mental health journey or have been managing symptoms for years, my goal is to help you feel supported and empowered every step of the way. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore your challenges, build insight, and set realistic, meaningful goals for growth. I want you to feel confident that you have a provider you can count on—not just during tough times, but throughout your healing process. I do not currently provide forensic evaluations such as fitness-for-duty evaluations (FFDEs), return-to-work evaluations, or short- or long-term disability evaluations.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you’re entering a partnership built on trust, mutual respect, and shared decision-making. I take the time to understand your concerns, values, and preferences so we can create a treatment plan that truly fits your life. My clients often say they feel heard, validated, and encouraged in sessions—because that’s my priority. Together, we’ll focus on progress, not perfection, and on creating a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and manageable.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is collaborative, patient-centered, and tailored to each person’s unique needs. During our first session, I take the time to really listen to your story—your symptoms, your history, and your goals for care. I want to understand not just what’s going on, but how it’s impacting your life and what matters most to you. Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that feels supportive and sustainable. For some people, this might include medication as one tool to help stabilize symptoms, paired with lifestyle changes like improving sleep, nutrition, and other holistic modalities. For others, we may focus on stress-reduction techniques, mindfulness, or discussing therapy referrals if that’s a good fit. I believe in meeting people where they are—whether you’re feeling nervous about starting medication, exploring mental health care for the first time, or continuing a long-term journey. My goal is for each session to feel like a safe, nonjudgmental space where you leave feeling heard, supported, and clear about your next steps.

Wesley is an exceptional nurse practitioner. He is attentive to patients needs and concerns. His passion for medicine is clear in all his conversations. I would highly recommend him!
Wes is an excellent provider. He’s professional, attentive, and interacts with a genuine warmth and friendliness. He doesn’t just ‘talk at me’, he listens, and hears me, before then establishing a care plan and guiding me through it. Can’t recommend him as a mental health NP enough.
Wes made me feel at ease with my diagnosis. He took the time to listen to me and make me feel genuinely seen and heard without judgement. I was really scared to start seeing someone for help, but I am really glad I did. He created a safe, supportive space where I could speak openly and start making sense of what I was feeling. He even took the time to teach me ways to manage and improve my mental health. I also really appreciate the fact that he is knowledgeable on the medications I have been taking and made sure I felt informed and empowered in my decisions
Wesley is warm and empathetic. He is very knowledgeable and explained the differences between SSRIs very clearly to me. He worked with me to find the best solution for the outcome I wanted. I left the session feeling very informed and empowered that I had a voice in my treatment.
