Getting to know Dr. William Bewley
My first commitment to you is that I will do my best to listen and to understand you. My professional and moral duty is to alleviate suffering, and I promise to do my best to help improve your quality of life. We will reach this goal by thoroughly discussing your needs. Together, we will collaborate to devise a comprehensive treatment approach.
I am board certified in psychiatry and treat a wide variety of conditions. I most recently worked at a state psychiatric hospital before moving to private practice. My residency training in general psychiatry and fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry were completed at the University of Miami. During my time there, I saw a high volume of patients from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural contexts. My medical degree, M.D., is from the University of Louisville, my hometown, and my undergraduate degree is in Religious Studies. Using my knowledge and experience, I am willing to integrate patients’ spiritual/faith traditions into the treatment plan. I almost always incorporate supportive therapy in my sessions and like to provide other therapies such as CBT and mindfulness training. Special areas of practice include: problems of early adulthood and childhood, and the psychopharmacological management of psychiatric and behavioral issues in patients with neurodevelopment disorders. I treat all ages from 6-64.
