About Dr. Xishi Tan

I do not perform gender affirmation or gender reassignment surgeries. I provide every patient with the care and respect they deserve, treating them like one of my own family members. As a urologist, I am keenly aware of the sensitive subjects and conditions I treat and do my best to make every situation as comfortable as possible. I consider it a privilege to be entrusted with your health and medical care. I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas, San Antonio. I completed both my internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine.

I came in to ask for help, like you do with a doctor. I waited a while in the patient room and saw the doctor laughing with colleagues while I waited. When visited, I was denied my specific request because it wasn't medically advised. Fine. But I was told my psychiatric issue is maybe the cause of my problem and he'd give me a medication that would address a fraction of my issue. I felt dismissed and diminished by this. Un-helped. There was no conversation or discussion or question or exploration for help. This experience is the type that inflames my frustration, when you go in vulnerable and are treated like a widget whose problem needs to get out of the office. They shrug you off. It was terrible.

Visit was very pleasant. Dr. Tan has wonderful bedside manners and explains everything well. I never felt rushed and was comfortable asking questions. I would highly recommend him and the entire staff.

The direction need to be more clear. Methodist is a big hospital with several entrances. You need to list it on your website to enter through the front women's entrance and that the office is on the 3rd floor. Other than that it was an awesome visit

Very dismissive went for kidney stones that I have had for 2 years and told me he didn’t think I had kidney pain. My options were drink lots of water so it can pass on its own or surgery. Pretty much sent me on my way and said it can pass in a week of few weeks or longer.
Everything went well with my visit. Starting with the waiting area, people greet you with a smile. The whole staff is very professional. Dr. Xishi is very professional and help me. Great experience.

Dr. Tan and staff were great.
Verified patient
Great people, who listened to everything and every question I had . And was explained everything in detail. Left the office feeling very good about my situation.
Verified patient
Dr. Tan was nice enough. However, after driving an hour for the appointment and taking a half day of PTO, I would have preferred if he did literally anything in our meeting. Instead he was convinced he knew what was issue and set me up for a CT scan in two weeks. Our exchange was probably two minutes at most and he didn’t feel for pain etc. Honestly he never even came within ten feet of me.
Verified patient
He was very professional and listen to everything I had to say. Made me feel comfortable and easy to speak with. Very nice man
