More about Dr. Yelena Lindenbaum, MD
Dr. Yelena Lindenbaum is a neurologist serving who is honored to offer New Yorkers the knowledgeable, devoted, and efficient care they deserve.
After beginning her career in medicine at Kharkiv Medical Academy in Ukraine, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, Dr. Lindenbaum came to New York for her residency in neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She continued her training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, where she completed a prestigious neurophysiology (EMG/EEG) fellowship where she had the opportunity to work with renowned neuromuscular specialists. That experience forever cemented her interest in the neuromuscular field.
Still hungry for knowledge, Dr. Lindenbaum completed another year of post-graduate training under the internationally recognized neuromuscular expert Dr. Jerry Mendell at Ohio State University. Eventually, she came back to New York to hold a faculty position at the department of neurology at Columbia University Medical Center, where she evaluated patients referred for neuromuscular consultations. She performed EMG, and muscle and nerve biopsies on an outpatient basis.
In 2002, Dr. Lindenbaum began her private practice, where she now works in the neuromuscular field with an emphasis on electrodiagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting peripheral nerves and muscles. Her practice focuses on treatable neurological conditions that cause pain, numbness, and weakness in the limbs associated with seizures, vertigo, gait unsteadiness and other neurological disorders.
Dr. Lindenbaum is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with a specialty in neurology. She is also board certified in Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

I went to Dr. Lindenbaum because she was one of her proximity and the being in network. I would probably go somewhere else if I had more choice with my insurance. The doctor's billing had a hard time taking my insurance and made me wait an hour as a result - even though I filled everything out on Zocdoc ahead of the appointment. The doctor seems to be aggressive in billing. Makes patients come in 2x as often as other Neuro's would for the same services and skips a lot of the check up when you're in there.

Seems to be not a bad doctor, but insisted on visiting her several times when everything could be done during one visit. On my 1st visit i asked to be sent to MRI, but was finally sent on my 3rd visit only :) Lets see what she says with MRI results..

Little interest or knowledge of my complex condition. I did not feel that she wanted to follow up or research anything about my problem. I have a pain issue, not curable, but manageable, and she was not interested.

The most attentive doctor of all doctors I have ever seen. I was pleased with her attentiveness to the details and highly professional manner of consultation. Also, she answered all of my questions without rushing me out and explained in detail how my medication works and how to avoid overuse.

Yes she did the test I asked for in regards to my pinch nerves, however I had to twist hear arm in order to get her to realize my back pains were real and very serious. She just kept saying Im a young guy and my back should not be so bad. Meanwhile, I have 5 herniated disc and 3 pinch nerves. I did not feel like she gave my the proper workup or help. I was basically left to search around for someone who can help my back issues....... With that said, she was a pretty easy going person, just not the kind of doctor that I needed - but that did not stop her from booking me multiple times for what I felt were useless visit.

The initial vist was basically getting to know me and my family medical history. I was expecting her to do blood work as well as an x-ray on my sholder to determine what's wrong with me. However, she informed me that on my next visit which is Friday 26 she will be doing several test on me. I feel that everything will go well with her.

January 15, 2016Joseph V.Verified patient
My experience was very gratifying. I liked the doctor, her staff, and the office in general. I was not rushed, all my questions were heard and answered. My tests were pre-certified on the same day which put me at ease. This was my third encounter with a neurologist, and it can not be even compared with my previous suboptimal experience. I wish I would have found Dr. Lindenbaum earlier.

The doctor was pleasant and so was the receptionist. However they did not take credit cards nor did they have a place to hang your coat in the waiting room. i got the impression the practice was still getting their act together.
As for recommending the doctor....this was my first visit. I will know more if and when the doctor comes up with a diagnosis and is able to treat my condition.

She ad to reschedule my appt and then kept me waiting almost 45 minutes. Would ask questions but not let me speak more than two words. Not great bedside manner.

My first visit to her and I could tell she really cares about her patients. She didn't rush me out of the room to get to the next in her full waiting room of patients. She was very methodical, caring, and really took her time to do an examination.
