Former neurologist with nearly 50 years of clinical experience, Dr. Yongbo Zhao provides personalized acupuncture care by combining extensive medical expertise, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach to supporting pain management, wellness, and overall health.
Dr. Zhao received his medical education from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Peking Union Medical College and served as a visiting scholar at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. With a unique background in both Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, he integrates his medical knowledge with traditional acupuncture techniques to develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
Dr. Zhao specializes in acupuncture care for chronic pain, neck and back discomfort, stress-related conditions, and overall wellness. Patients choose him for his attentive, compassionate approach and his commitment to helping patients improve comfort, function, and quality of life.

I was in town for work when I suddenly started having severe lower back pain. I was able to get an acupuncture appointment with Dr. Zhao on short notice. The experience totally exceeded my expectations! Dr. Zhao took the time to understand my medical history and figure out what might be causing my pain. He explained the treatment plan thoroughly rather than rushing through the visit.
After the treatment, my back immediately felt noticeably better. I’m planning on going back again before I return home. I would definitely recommend Dr. Zhao to anyone who lives in the area or traveling like me!

I came to visit Dr. Zhao for my sports injury for my back pain. After receiving acupuncture treatment and Chinese medicine, I am seeing significant improvement of my back pain, after couples months treatment, I can play my favorite sport again. Dr. Zhao is very good reputation and very knowledgeable.

I hurt my lower back while moving some heavy flower pots in my yard after the weather finally cleared up. The pain was intense, and I could barely bend over or straighten up.
I came to see Dr. Zhao for acupuncture, and I was honestly surprised by how much better I felt after the treatment. My pain was significantly reduced, and by the time I left the office, I could bend, stand, and move around much more comfortably. I was even able to get back to my normal daily activities later that day.
Dr. Zhao is knowledgeable, caring, and takes the time to understand what’s causing the pain instead of just treating the symptoms. I’m very grateful for the relief I experienced and will definitely continue my treatment. If you’re looking for a skilled acupuncturist in the Washington, DC area, I highly recommend Dr. Zhao.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience truly stood out.
I came in with severe neck and shoulder tension and high stress levels, and I could immediately feel how calm and welcoming the clinic environment is. Everything is clean, quiet, and very well organized.
Dr. Zhao was extremely attentive and took time to really understand my condition before starting treatment. He explained everything clearly, which made me feel very comfortable and confident throughout the visit.
The acupuncture session was gentle and deeply relaxing. I could feel my body releasing tension during the treatment, and afterward I felt noticeably lighter and more balanced. That same night, I slept better than I had in weeks.
What impressed me most is that Dr. Zhao focuses on the whole-body balance, not just symptoms. You can tell he genuinely cares about patient healing.
Highly recommend this clinic for anyone dealing with pain, stress, or sleep issues. I will definitely be coming back.
