We are currently scheduling in-office visits on a limited basis, with priority given to NEW PATIENTS.
At the time of scheduling, a credit card deposit will be collected for NEW PATIENTS coming for an in-person visit. If you fail to show for the appointment or do not provide at least 24 hours' notice to cancel, this deposit will be converted to a no-show fee. This deposit will be applied to your portion of the visit or refunded once your claim is processed.
TELEVISITS: For existing patients only. You must have a computer, tablet, or smartphone with Zoom installed to participate in telemedicine with your doctors.
We will see new patients by telemedicine on a case-by-case basis if you are quarantined and/or returning from a high-risk area.

Neurological conditions can make patients and their families feel very vulnerable. I believe that a physician's ability to recognize and address this vulnerability is essential in developing a successful relationship with patients. Beyond diagnosing and treating individuals, I strive to empower my patients by providing accurate medical information, listening to their specific concerns, and encouraging active involvement in their care.
I earned my Bachelor's degree from City University of New York, Hunter College, and my Doctor of Medicine from Cornell University. I completed my internship and residency in Neurology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center.

In a time when insurance companies require doctors to see many, many patients per hour, and an appointment can be rushed & patients feel like they “aren’t heard”, Dr. Zaharakis is the complete opposite! Dr. Z took the time to listen to everything I had to say, explained to me in detail her diagnosis and next steps, and made sure I was onboard for everything. I HIGHLY recommend this physician.

Although the doctor took a lot of time with me, the wait time (on two occasions) was more than an hour. Frankly, I get that and would still give a good review. But after my MRI, there was NO follow-up. I had to call several times, and still - a good two weeks later, have not been able to get through to get the results. I self-paid for this provider because she was so highly recommended. NEVER AGAIN!

I was not seen at all because it was a no fault insurance and the doctor doesn't take no fault. This should be stated on the appointment page. Whether or not the doctor accepts NO FAULT and/or WORKER'S COMPENSATION.

Dr Zaharakis, along with the entire staff, is always so courteous and kind. Always. The first apt I had at the office I was in a lot of pain and was less than charismatic. Everyone was incredibly patient and kind with me. Dr Zaharakis always listens and answers my questions and I never feel rushed.

Doctor Zaharakis was very professional. I've seen two other Neurologist since being Diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. I was surprised to learn that Dr. Diego Herbstein, the first Dr. I saw was her partner. I was very happy with the results of my visit with Dr. Zaharakis, and am looking forward to my next visit.

Dr. Zaharakis has horrible bedside manner which makes it a stressful endeavor to seek answers for an already stressful situation. If your brain isn't functioning to it's fullest capabilities and you're having a hard time explaining your symptoms she bulldozes right through you, cuts you off when you are talking, and generally gives an air of "I don't care". Her medical assistant was incredible, very helpful and caring with a sense of humor. I'm not sure if Dr. Zaharakis is an excellent doctor in terms of intellect but I'm not sticking around long enough to find out.
