About Dr. Alexis English

Alexis English earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Sacred Heart University in 2013 after receiving her bachelor’s in Exercise Science. She completed an additional Neurological Physical Therapy residency with Harris Health System in Houston, Texas in 2014. Alexis has experience treating pelvic health, oncological conditions, vestibular dysfunction including vertigo, traumatic and degenerative neurological conditions. Alexis has received training from Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute for pelvic health conditions experienced by female, male, intersex and trans individuals. These conditions include but are not limited to urinary and fecal incontinence, chronic pelvic pain, painful intercourse, painful bladder syndrome, genitourinary syndrome of menopause, pre and post prostatectomy care, erectile dysfunction, constipation, IBS, and post operative care for gender affirming surgeries. Alexis is a Belmar native and is thrilled to be serving her hometown and surrounding communities. Prior to returning to New Jersey, Alexis worked in high level neurological rehabilitation hospitals inpatient and outpatient settings. She launched and ran the Cancer Rehabilitation program and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – Beth Israel Needham in Needham, Massachusetts. While there she also created the oncology pelvic health and male pelvic health rehabilitation programs. Alexis believes in a comprehensive biopsychosocial approach to treatment that focuses on utilizing exercises to optimize the neuromuscular system. Alexis creates physical therapy programs that may include both manual therapy and exercises. Outside of the office, Alexis enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, yoga, gardening and being outdoors.
